Girls’ In-Class Experiences
Dual-enrolled at Cleveland Heights High School and Case Western Reserve University, senior Natasha Madorsky is high achieving. However, she has never been interested in the sciences; she has “never been in a really good science class.” In all her classes, Madorsky noticed a gender imbalance. “All the guys were the ones raising their hands and saying things frequently, except for me, which was also a strange thing because I was the only high school student in the room.” Madorsky said that although adults are supportive now, in middle school it seemed to her that it was “always the guys who were considered smarter.”
