Men’s Soccer

The men’s soccer team’s season came to an end following a tough loss to North Canton Hoover. Junior Thomas Smyers scored two minutes into the game to give Shaker a 1-0 lead, but Hoover scored two unanswered goals to make it 2-1. Junior Mark Sauerland tied the game at two, but Hoover scored again to win the game 3-2.

Field Hockey

The field hockey team advanced to the State Championship Final after a 2-0 victory over Thomas Worthington. They were fueled by goals from junior Maggie Carter and junior Eliza Bennett in a shutout victory, but Shaker fell short in the final 1-0, bringing an end to their season with a second place finish in the state.

Football

The football team lost its last game of the season on Friday 32-14 to Euclid. Shaker finished the season with a 2-8 record.

Cross Country

Dave Englander

The women’s cross country team took part in the State Championships on Saturday. Shaker finished 11th out of 20 teams, while senior Vivek Divakarla, competing alone on the men’s side, finished 56th overall. Junior Avery Blaszak finished first for the girls, coming in 14th overall.
