Senior Evelyn Ting has noticed different treatment between male and female college applicants. “Colleges and universities will try to send emails that target girls for math and science programs, so I get a lot more of that mail than my boy counterparts,” Ting said. Ting is more concerned about race. “I just think that it would be more common for an Asian to be discriminated against versus a woman to be discriminated against.” However, Ting thinks society has come a long way in how it views educated girls. She said, “Women don’t have to play dumb anymore.”
