Welcome Home, Snow

For the past year, we’ve heard that today would be the end of the world.

Instead, it’s back to the beginning: Cleveland is getting its first big snow.

Cleveland’s last truly White Winter was in 2010, when Shaker had four snow days, a record for current students. As someone who didn’t live here in 2010, at the time, I was both relieved to miss the harsh weather and envious of my friends.

Still, I’ve always loved the snow. When the grass was scarcely coated last year, I was disappointed. I wanted a snow day—I wanted a white Christmas!

Last winter, Cleveland felt like a new, strange city without Lake Erie pummeling us with its signature sparkling flakes. Looking outside now, I finally feel at home again.

Happy winter solstice, everybody.
