Students from Gilmour Academy were reprimanded for wearing red in support of Chardon because red is not a school color and is not part of the school uniform. One Facebook post read “Wore red despite problems with a school administration and their love for uniforms. Proud to do it.” Uniforms work well in maintaining a good school image, but telling students that they are not allowed to support the families of shooting victims does not. Students came together to support a good cause, but they were stopped in order to maintain a school image. But by telling the Gilmour students to stop, they are hurting their image.
