Smoke Visible Off Campus Unrelated to Schools

Smoke was visible from the high school.

Update 11:50 a.m.

According to tweets from the Cleveland Fire Department, the fire began at an auto repair shop located at the intersection of Kinsman and E.145th Street. The fire caused secondary explosions and spread to a “neighboring occupied house,” they stated. “No injuries reported.”

More than 50 firefighters are on scene, according to the tweet. The fire crew is “making progress,” the CFD stated. “Rescue Squad 2 rescued a dog from a neighboring house.”


Police are investigating smoke visible off campus, west of the high school at 10:30 a.m.

Two explosions were audible. The incident “has nothing to do with the school,” Principal Eric Juli said. 

Police are still “checking the area,” a Shaker Heights Police Department dispatcher said.
