Why did you decide to run?
“I like having a leadership role in the school,” Jen Neary said, “and to make a difference whether it’s in the school and in activities or in charities.”
Did you run last year or at any other time? Have you held office previously?
Neary said she has been on Student Council for two years as a representative. This past year, she was also a member of the Executive Board as the co-head of communications, with junior Clara Medalie.
What’s your campaign strategy? Are you using social media?
“I just hope people see my sincerity and how Student Council is genuinely important to me,” Neary said, since she does not have a specific campaign strategy. “I’ll probably tweet about it once or twice, but I don’t want to annoy people too much, so not really.”
Why should people vote for you? What are your advantages over the other candidates?
“Treasurer is more of a leadership position, but I feel like I’m ready to take it on. I’m experienced in Student Council and know what role I play and what is expected of me,” Neary said. “I’m really going to work hard at it and I’m committed.”
If elected, what three things do you need to achieve to feel you have been successful?
“I need to give my full attention and effort at every meeting and activity,” Neary said. She hopes to make a positive difference in the high school and wants to improve the lives of people in need. In addition, “I need to work so that we have a great senior year with successful events,” she said.
