Why did you decide to run?
“I decided to run because I have been planning on ever since I decided to run for Student Council last year,” Arpit Agrawal said. “I planned on running for VP this year, and next year I plan to run for president. That’s my grand scheme. I felt like VP has more responsibilities than secretary and I feel like I can work with Cherie really well to be successful to be known as one of those elite classes.”
Did you run last year? Have you held office previously?
Agrawal was class secretary during his freshman year.
What’s your campaign strategy? Are you using social media?
“I really haven’t campaigned much. I haven’t used social media,” he said. “Just using the traditional speech method. I find that people get really irritated by posters and social media. I don’t think posters influence one’s vote as much as people usually think. I was more vocal, letting people know myself that I’m running. I didn’t really on posters.”
Why should people vote for you?
Agrawal said his leadership, communication, confidence and experience set him apart from other candidates. “With these traits, I can work with the president and the rest of the council so we can be the most efficient and set ourselves up for a good junior year and senior year education and good years in high school. Everything needs to be taken care of in a mature and responsible manner. It’s important to execute our goals. I feel like through my experiences from last year, with change and communications, are a big thing, too.”
If elected, what are three things would you need to achieve to feel like you have been successful?
“One thing we’ll be focusing on is prom,” he said. “Last year we came up with some effective ideas; we just need to put them together. So fundraising for prom and fundraising for the class itself. We just ran short of time this year, preparing for prom this year especially early. Secondly, awareness and profits for prom, especially for prom. Preparing funds and ideas and simply how it’s gonna happen. Fun ideas and how we’re going to get it to work. I was thinking tickets and teams for dodge-ball and have the teams compete. It will be different, competitive and fun. School spirit: I have ideas for new slogans and T-shirts and Raider towels for Shaker hockey and basketball games.”
