Trial Date Set for Student
In a second pre-trial hearing Oct. 23, Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court Judge Alison Floyd scheduled a trial for the male student charged with rape and kidnapping.
The charges stem from an incident at the high school Sept. 10.
According to information provided by court spokeswoman Mary Davidson, the “adjudicatory hearing,” or trial, will be Jan. 21, 2014 in Floyd’s courtroom.
Assistant County Prosecutor Kelly Mason, who will represent the state in the trial, and defense attorney Eric Levy both declined to comment.
At the suspect’s first pre-trial hearing Sept. 23, Floyd temporarily ordered the 15-year-old confined to home detention with GPS monitoring and prohibited him from “contact with the alleged victim including electronic and social media.” Davidson said the suspect denied the allegations through his attorney.
