During tonight’s game against Solon, Coach Alex Nicholson and his players will show their appreciation for teachers who help them out throughout high school.
Senior players will have given their favorite teacher an away jersey to wear, and teachers will be admitted to the game at no cost. “It was something we did back in high school,” Nicholson said. “It was a great feeling when I gave my jersey away to my teacher, and it’s something that other high school programs do as well.”
He said that now is the right time “to show the teachers that we really care about them and we’re very appreciative for all the hard work they do for our student athletes.”
Senior cornerback Jackson Ward said he gave his jersey to social studies teacher Kyle Fleming. “He’s been with me since freshman year, and I wasn’t a very confident kid,” Ward said. “And now, I’m leaving here a man. Mr. Fleming made me a man.”
