10 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Getting a Tattoo

  1. Am I OK with the pain involved?
  2. Am I comfortable with a tattoo becoming a permanent part of my body?
  3. Do I accept that there may be some health risks?
  4. Can I accept “tattoo attention” as part of my life?
  5. Do I have a legitimate, concrete reason for wanting a tattoo?
  6. Do I understand that the tattoo will change in appearance as time passes?
  7. Am I willing do the necessary research in order to have the best experience when I get a tattoo?
  8. Am I willing to take full responsibility for the final look of the tattoo?
  9. Is the decision to get a tattoo completely mine, without other influences?
  10. Am I sure that there are no alternatives other than a tattoo that would satisfy me?

If the answer to any of these questions is “no,” you should reconsider getting a tattoo.  Remember that it will be a permanent part of your body and that tattoo removal options are most often expensive and painful. If all of the answers are “yes,” make sure to choose a meaningful design that you will not regret.
